The Protein In Your Local Grocery Store

Look around at our website for any amount of time and you’ll quickly discover what we’re all about: protein! We’ve got protein down to a science (literally), but we also know that you’re not getting the only protein in your life from our nutritional shakes and low sugar protein bars. You’ll be snacking and eating normal meals, but you’ll want to make sure you’re getting your protein from the best sources. Here’s some grocery store advice.

The Meat Department

Some people believe that red meat is to blame for many health problems. Others believe that it’s the nitrites and nitrates that are used to process certain meats. We’d suggest the occasional steak while avoiding processed meats like hot dogs and bacon.

It’s hard to find a problem with the protein in chicken, though. Just make sure you cook it well, because chicken is one of the most common causes of foodborne illness...and you don't want to get sick because it’s really going to mess with your workout schedule!

The Power Bar and Granola Bar Aisle

Here’s one you have to watch out for. Let’s say you’ve run out of our OhYeah! One Bars and haven’t had time to reorder. You’ll probably be spending a lot of time in the power bar reading labels, because it’s going to be hard finding one that does what our OhYeah! bars do. Most of the power bars in that aisle are glorified candy bars, anyway. The best thing to do? Don’t run out of OhYeah!’s protein bars in the first place!

Nuts

One of the best ways that even vegans can get protein is via nuts. While the fat content of nuts scares some people off, the fat found in nuts is often of the healthy variety. Many nuts are also filled with fiber and chock-full of vitamins and antioxidants.

These are just a few of the ways to get your protein when you’re not drinking our nutrition shakes or satiating your hunger with a protein bar. Like most things in life, variety is key. Enjoy some nuts and wash them down with a protein shake!
